NEC has been steadily hiring CIE graduates and is anticipating a plant expansion which will require 30 additional equipment repair technicians beginning Summer 2006.

Bio-medical equipment repair technicians
Affymetrix, a manufacturer of state-of-the-art for acquiring and managing complex genetic information, hires equipment repair technicians and expects to continue to do so into the foreseeable future.

Traffic control and lighting technicians
City of Sacramento and similar public sector organizations hire for this configuration and repair position.  These systems are automated and networked.  They require the diagnosis and repair of parking control equipment, inspection of signal controls, diagnosis of malfunctions, and relamping of traffic signals and street lights.

Mechanics Electrical and Machine Maintenance
Coca Cola regularly looks for employees with Mechatronics skills and training to maintain and repair automated bottling equipment.  Other similar regional employers include Campbells Soup and Continental Baking Co.

HVAC technicians
Corporate or independently employed heating, ventilation and air conditioning technicians enjoyed expanded regional opportunities commensurate with the growth of Placer and surrounding counties.

Automotive technicians
Dealership and independent employers have an expanding need for employees with backgrounds in Mechatronics due to the complex control systems employed in modern vehicles.  Engine control, anti-lock braking, air bag deployment, personal comfort control and entertainment systems all use Mechatronics principles.  This need will continue to expand with the mandated implementation of hybrid vehicles.

Automated consumer equipment
This broad area of equipment spans a wide range of industries such as ATM equipment, point-of-sale terminals, vending machines, copy machines and gaming equipment.  Technicians are required to install, configure, maintain and repair these complex Mechatronics equipment.  Preventative maintenance is important for the reliable operation of the machines.  Diebold and NCR are employers in the Sacramento region who hire these technicians.
